Research Facilities

State-of-the-art facilities are housed at Syed Babar Ali School of Science and Engineering, LUMS.

Basic Molecular, and Epidemiological Research

The department of life sciences at LUMS houses, state-of-the art facilities and resources and is continuing to grow. The department consists of BSL1 and 2 laboratories, which are equipped to carry out experiments in immunology, cell biology and molecular biology.

Resources for Bioinformatics and Data Analysis

High performance computing labs (HPC) are equipped with a high-density server to cater to both Windows and Linux environments. The lab not only provides computation resources, but also offer a hosting facility to our other departments. The main component of the Linus environment consists of a High- Performance Computing cluster that provides support for solving large-scale problems requiring substantially.

The facility has advanced GPU-based servers available for parallel computing and deep learning analysis data. The laboratory also has an inhouse large-scale data storage facility, which will be available together with GPU-based machines to develop a public health database of population-level investigations done during this project.
